# Roadmap

Our October 2026 update and what comes next

In October 2026, we shared the outcome of a reassessment of XProtocol’s original roadmap. This page replaces the previous roadmap and reflects those updates.

### October 2026 update

* **Roadmap reassessed (21 Oct 2026).** Declining activity across the gaming and entertainment segments we originally set out to serve, alongside broader challenges in DePIN and the cryptocurrency market, led us to reassess our original roadmap, including milestones and commitments previously communicated.
* **No $KICK token launch (30 Oct 2026).** We have made the difficult decision not to proceed with the planned $KICK token launch.
* **XForge shipments fulfilled.** All XForge phone shipments have been fulfilled.
* **Rewards under review.** We are reviewing existing reward arrangements, including the treatment of xKICK holdings and accumulated rewards, as part of a revised reward structure that has not yet been finalized.
* **Gasless node operations.** We are working toward gasless node operations, with the objective of removing the need for operators to continually fund gas transactions to keep their nodes running.

### What comes next

We are targeting **Q2 2027** for the publication of a comprehensive restructuring roadmap. It is intended to provide greater clarity on:

* The future direction of XProtocol and its ecosystem
* The revised reward structure and treatment of existing participants
* The status of node operations and planned improvements
* Development priorities and the next steps for the project
